This course addresses a critical gap in professional development for early-career clinicians and researchers in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (ID/CM). While clinical and scientific training are well covered in existing programs, young professionals often lack structured support to develop key transversal skills needed for successful, sustainable careers. The course offers an intensive and interactive curriculum focused on real-world challenges in ID/CM professional life. Participants will build confidence and competence across five core areas:1. Effective communication in ID/CM, including case presentations, scientific dissemination, feedback delivery, and public engagement.2. Career development, including decision-making during training, navigating research opportunities, and planning academic-clinical career paths.3. Mentorship and teaching, with a focus on practical approaches to bedside education, innovative learning formats (e.g. podcasts, gamification), and creating meaningful mentoring relationships.4. Personal management, with practical strategies promoting sustainability in healthcare, and maintaining resilience and well-being.5. Professional identity and visibility, covering networking strategies, international collaboration, social media presence, and innovation in ID/CM practice. The course design combines short expert lectures with hands-on workshops. The faculty brings together a uniquely relevant mix: current TAE-SC, former TAE-SC members now in academic or clinical roles and senior international experts.
