This course provides a comprehensive overview of evidence-based strategies to prevent, detect and manage surgical site infections across different surgical specialties. Through expert-led sessions and practical discussions, participants review key components of SSI surveillance, antimicrobial prophylaxis, perioperative infection prevention measures, and implementation strategies to improve compliance with guidelines. The course is designed to support multidisciplinary teams in strengthening local SSI prevention programmes and enhancing patient safety outcomes.
Intended audience:
Medical doctors and pharmacists; nurses or other healthcare professionals with an MSc or PhD are eligible, provided they completed the basic module or have experience in IPC.
