Central nervous system infections—including those following neurosurgical procedures and those caused by bacterial, viral, fungal, or parasitic pathogens—represent a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide.
In the neurosurgical setting, postoperative infections such as meningitis, ventriculitis, wound infections, and shunt-related infections remain significant challenges. Meanwhile, primary neurological infections such as toxoplasmosis, neurocysticercosis, tuberculous meningitis, and viral encephalitis continue to pose diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties.
This two-day multidisciplinary course aims to provide neurosurgeons, neurologists, and related healthcare professionals with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills to prevent, diagnose, and manage neurosurgical and neurological infections effectively, while integrating infection control and antimicrobial stewardship principles into daily practice.
