This two and half day interactive course will equip Infection Specialist clinicians, researchers and scientists with the skills, frameworks and strategic insight needed to move beyond publication and clinical practice into meaningful policy and system-wide influence. 
Participants will explore how policy decisions are shaped, how complex healthcare systems operate, and how to strategically translate clinical and research expertise into policy and practice Through prework, practical workshops, case studies and applied exercises, attendees will develop tools to craft policy briefs, map stakeholders, engage decision-makers and design a personalised impact strategy aligned to their area of expertise.
Ideal for clinicians, researchers and scientific leaders seeking to extend their influence beyond the clinic or laboratory and drive sustainable system-level impact.

Intended audience:  

Infection doctors, antimicrobial pharmacists, infection prevention/control nurses, clinical microbiologists, healthcare scientists, and public health professionals with an interest in antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Objectives: 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Assess and use population health/ health systems approaches in influencing policy
  • Navigate the policy landscape shaping AMS strategy across local, national and global contexts.
  • Apply systems thinking to map drivers of AMS and identify policy leverage points.
  • Integrate behavioural and implementation science principles into the design of population-level and national AMS interventions..
  • Communicate evidence and policy recommendations persuasively to senior decision-makers
  • Translate clinical and surveillance data into policy-relevant narratives and action.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to design and advocate for sustainable AMS interventions.

ESCMID office will apply for EACCME accreditation. 
Participants must complete the course evaluation to be eligible to receive their CME credits.

Certification: 

Course organisers will monitor attendance. Participants are required to attend at least 70% of live sessions to be eligible to receive a certificate.

This course is part of the AMS Certificate Programme, but has some spaces open to registrations outside of the programme.
