Infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (MDR-GNB) have been increasing in Mediterranean countries over the last decades. Several efforts should be done in order to reduce their selection and dissemination. Education in microbiology, epidemiology, infection control and antimicrobial therapy is needed for professionals managing this worrisome topic.  

Intended audience: 

Medical doctors, microbiologists, and pharmacists, nurses or other healthcare professionals with an MSc or PhD and with interest or experience in ICP are eligible.

Objectives: 

  • To learn the main mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance in MDR-GNB
  • To review the current epidemiology of MDR-GNB in Europe
  • To learn how to perform an adequate surveillance of MDR-GNB
  • To update the evidence about the current infection control measures for MDR-GNB
  • To review the current therapeutic options for infections caused by MDR-GNB
