There are over 30 pathogens sharing (exactly) the same mode of transmission – sex ! The ESCMID Sexually Transmitted Infections Study Group (ESTISG) aims to bring together international experts on HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in order to improve knowledge, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of these infections.

Aims and objectives

In order to achieve our goals we are dedicated to:

• Provide an international platform to improve knowledge, epidemiology, diagnosis, and develop new preventive and treatment strategies to fight the global STIs epidemic
• Overcome barriers and stigma related to STIs, build positive language and work with media
• Work towards improving diagnostic tools and their use according to good clinical practices
• Stimulate and initiate research activities
• Act together with other ESCMID Study Groups to stimulate development of new vaccines and therapies for STIs
• Organize educational courses and webinars to disseminate knowledge across Europe
