Aims and objectives

The ESCMID Study Group for Bloodstream Infections, Endocarditis, and Sepsis (ESGBIES) is committed to improving the management of bloodstream infections, infective endocarditis, and sepsis. This network of dedicated experts focuses on:

  • Enhancing diagnosis, treatment, and prevention through collaborative research efforts
  • Facilitating education and training to promote good medical practice
  • Strengthening communication and collaboration among members to disseminate the latest findings and updates

Through a strong dedication to research, ESGBIES drives forward to create educational initiatives, such as in-person seminars, courses, and webinars, as well as joint projects. Both longstanding and new members are appreciated for playing an invaluable role in this shared mission.

ESGBIES is happy to announce two ESGBIES AWARDS for 2025-2026:

Best Article Award

The ESGBIES Best Article Award aims to recognize outstanding collaborative research in Clinical Microbiology (CM) and Infectious Diseases (ID), co-authored by researchers from different countries. The award includes a monetary prize of 1,000 euros.

Best Abstract Award

The ESGBIES Best Abstract Award recognizes ESCMID Young Scientist Members who present their research at ESCMID Global. The award includes:

• 500 euros for the 2 best abstracts
