TAE Day 2025: A revised and exciting programme awaits on Saturday, 12 April!

TAE Day is organised every year at ESCMID Global by the Trainee Association of ESCMID (TAE). This session targets CM and ID trainees to take part in round table-type sessions, where they have the chance to informally interact with renowned experts in the field of CM and ID. This way, they can get inspiration from the experts, discuss the main challenges and decisions during clinical and/or research careers, get career advice, learn about career/research opportunities and strengthen their network.

This year, TAE Day offers an even more dynamic and engaging experience with a refreshed format — no pre-registration required, dedicated morning and afternoon sessions, a networking lunch, and more opportunities to connect, all while preserving the signature round tables with renowned experts in an informal yet enriching setting.

ESCMID Global continues to innovate and invest in the education of early-career scientists and physicians which is highlighted this year with a new onsite hands-on training experience. These 2-hour sessions will take place in the ESCMID Mobile Lab which will be parked outside the congress centre in front of Foyer A.

It will be a microscopy-based training, organised and led by Claire Rogers, from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom. The topics will be centred around blood and faecal parasitology exploring specific parasites and diseases which can be found using microscopy.

Due to the small group nature of the sessions, each one is only open for maximum of 14 participants and pre-registration is necessary. There is also an additional registration fee of 50 EUR + 20%VAT.

ESCMID Global will once again host the machine learning side event "Using data science and machine learning for infection science: A hands on introduction” providing 65 attendees with the confidence to explore machine learning in their own contexts, in addition to resources for further exploration and use. Participants can expect to develop a fundamental understanding of machine learning and data science as well as the “end-to-end” lifecycle of a machine learning solution. This is accomplished through a hands-on practical experience where attendees develop their own machine learning workflow and models for tabular datasets with no-code tools. No prior background in data science and machine learning is assumed and the workshop is suitable for beginners. More details will be provided to participants eight, four, and two weeks before the workshop.

ESCMID plans for another ENC/ASC in Vienna, in which participants can learn more about the many ESCMID study groups (SG), ESCMID affiliated societies (AS) and networks, ESCMID collaborative centres (ECC) as well as project groups in the fields of CM and ID. The video format will be brought back and hosted on screens in the venue as well as on the virtual congress platform.

ESCMID entities such as EUCAST, EUCIC and the ESCMID Study Groups host meetings during ESCMID Global that are open to all participants. Any attendee who is interested in joining or learning more about these entities can join onsite. This can be a great introduction to these official ESCMID bodies and allow you to interact with colleagues in the same areas of interest. The schedule for open meetings will be posted closer to the congress dates and added to the programme overview.

Each day of the event, our ESCMID TV host, Judith Cohen, interviews prominent speakers, ESCMID Executive Committee members, and members of the ESCMID community. In addition, the Lucky Wheel is spun each day at 12:00 CEST, and participants have the opportunity to win some great prizes.

ESCMID TV is streamed live on the ESCMID Global platform, ESCMID YouTube channel, and at select locations at the venue. On-demand access will then be available both on the ESCMID Global online platform and on YouTube.
