The Trainee Association of ESCMID (TAE) plays a crucial role in the lives of young professionals worldwide, offering support and education resources to Society members. Activities such as TAE Day at ESCMID Global and the Virtual Roundtable provide valuable networking opportunities and foster collaboration, promoting career growth.
Advocating for young scientists: the TAE represents the interests of ESCMID Young Scientist Members (YSM) globally through supporting and promoting continued learning and knowledge-sharing among the association and its members. Fostering networking and collaboration: Members within the TAE help build a vast network of young professionals for international collaboration by establishing a wide-ranging, interconnected platform for clinical microbiology (CM) and infectious diseases (ID) trainees to exchange, leveraging both regional and global networks. Enhancing training: the TAE aims to identify and address training challenges that CM and ID trainees may face.
Efforts are made by the association to harmonise educational quality and content in Europe and beyond through consultations with the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) and national societies. Providing professional and educational support: Members of the TAE actively promote observerships, mentorships, and diverse opportunities to improve and support scientific education for their peers. Endorsement of educational initiatives and programmes is another way the TAE works to achieve this goal. Outstanding ESCMID YSMs are acknowledged for their contributions with awards and grants.
TAE Day takes place annually during ESCMID Global and hosts a range of enriching activities that drive networking and knowledge sharing, including the Round Table Session exchange between prominent experts in the fields of CM and ID to inspire young professionals.
This annual event offers young professionals the opportunity to meet fellow CM and ID trainees with similar career journeys and aspirations. The virtual roundtable offers trainees the chance to strengthen professional bonds with peers and to be inspired by senior experts who were once in their place! The call for the next event will be posted here soon.
With excellence at its core, the TAE Steering Committee (SC) strives for inclusivity, collaborating with young professionals through other scientific societies and medical organisations. Discover our esteemed partner organisations:
