Since 2002, the ESCMID Summer School has been a leading educational event. The week-long programme focuses on postgraduate studies and medical education, offering expert lectures in Clinical Microbiology (CM) and Infectious Diseases (ID). The Summer School is open to MDs completing specialty training, biologists, pharmacists, PhD students, and postdocs in CM and ID. Join for a comprehensive learning experience.
The 24th ESCMID Summer School will be held in Budapest, Hungary, in July 2026. The Summer School promises to be an excellent chance to discover more about CM and ID.
The 23rd ESCMID Summer School was held in Dublin, Ireland, in the first week of July 2025. Participants enjoyed a week of great sessions and activities with a diverse group of 91 young physicians, microbiologists, and researchers from 33 countries who visited Mater Misericordiae, St. James's Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital and Beaumont Hospital for a professional knowledge exchange with local specialists.
The week of workshops reviewed hot topics, such as antimicrobial resistance, emerging infections and antimicrobial stewardship. Participants also presented their work, based either on their research projects or clinical cases from their professional experience. This rich academic week served as a wonderful backdrop for discussions between the participants and faculty members, with plenty of networking opportunities. This group of Summer School participants were able to take advantage of the opportunity to exchange among peers while discovering Dublin, whether between sessions, during the various planned evening events or while out visiting cultural sights.
