Short summary of skills, experience and career objective
I am an infectious diseases physician and academic at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Nigeria, with expertise in emerging and re-emerging infections, outbreak response, vaccinology, HIV medicine, antimicrobial resistance and clinical research. I serve as Principal Investigator leading the clinical characterisation of human mpox during Nigeria’s 2024–2026 outbreak and as Co-Investigator on a CEPI-funded study supporting the standardisation of anti-mpox antibody assays. My experience includes outbreak response, vaccine implementation, public health programme leadership, and scientific publication, with over 80 peer-reviewed papers. My career objective is to advance collaborative research, strengthen preparedness and response to emerging infectious threats, and translate robust scientific evidence into equitable, effective clinical and public health interventions, particularly in resource-limited settings.
