The Emergency Department is one of the most challenging environments in healthcare — and one of the places where some of the most consequential decisions for patient safety, infection prevention, diagnostics, and antimicrobial use are made. From the first minutes of care, teams must rapidly identify patients requiring screening or isolation, implement safe practices during invasive procedures, recognise high-risk infectious diseases, establish an appropriate diagnostic strategy, and select timely and effective antimicrobial therapy. These decisions are often made under intense time pressure, uncertainty, overcrowding, and competing clinical priorities.
This EUCIC Training Programme module combines focused theoretical sessions with simulation-based, real-life clinical scenarios and highly interactive discussions that reflect the complexity of everyday Emergency Department practice.
Feedback from participants in previous editions has directly informed the evolution of the programme, leading to improved sessions and its extension to two full days, allowing more time for simulation, interaction, discussion, and practical learning.
Join us in Lisbon, Europe's most southwestern capital, for two intensive days of applied learning, multidisciplinary exchange, and simulation designed to translate evidence into safer and more effective Emergency Department practice.
