Parasitic diseases continue to present a substantial threat to global health and in some instances, notably malaria, have undergone a resurgence. Sometimes seen as "niche" diagnoses, parasitic infections are still diagnosed late, or not at all in some cases, with serious adverse outcomes. The key, therefore, is to promote awareness of these conditions, the effects they have, and available sources of expert advice and prompt diagnosis.
Intended audience:
Clinical Microbiologists, Infectious Disease Specialists, Public Health Specialists, Migrant Health Specialists.
Objectives:
This workshop is designed to highlight the impact of parasitic diseases on the work of clinical microbiologists and infectious disease specialists who may be called upon to advise on or manage cases where these conditions enter the differential diagnosis.
