Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois and University of Lausanne

Research interests:
She obtained her MD in 2005 and is currently completing a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Evangellos Giamarellos-Bourboulis at the University of Athens Medical School. Her research activities are focused on host response to microbial infection and sepsis, the impact of gene polymorphisms on sepsis development, and immunomodulatory therapies for sepsis.

In 2007, she was recruited by the Department of Immunology of Infectious Diseases of ATTIKON University Hospital of Athens, being responsible for data handling of the multicentre registry of sepsis run by the Hellenic Sepsis Study Group.

In 2011, as a recipient of a grant by the Porphyrogenis Foundation, she joined the Infectious Diseases Service, headed by Prof. Thierry Calandra, at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois in Lausanne. There, she studied the influence of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) gene polymorphisms on susceptibility and outcome of pneumococcal meningitis, and the role of MIF in pneumococcal infection.
