Infection Prevention and Control

 

Module Objectives

• Technical Hygiene – methods and assessment & Occupational Health

• To get insight on the relevance of technical equipment of a hospital (air-conditioning etc.) and medical devices for the spread of infection

• To get information about the basic function of technical equipment and medical devices with regard to infection control and reprocessing

• To learn about reprocessing (decontamination, disinfection, sterilization), and the validation of reprocessing including examples from the daily practice and a visit to the central reprocessing unit of a 2000-bed University hospital

• To understand the importance and implications of the construction and construction measures of a healthcare institution

• To get an overview on occupational health and laboratory safety

• To learn about biohazard and waste management in a hospital and other medical environments• To be able to assess the risk of infection and the subsequent measures of infection control in the medical environment

Implementation in Infection Prevention and Control


This workshop aims:

 

• To understand organisational culture and context
• To prioritize activities in infection prevention and control
• To learn strategies of implementation research
• To learn practical tools for implementation

There will be the opportunity to visit the infection control programme of the University of Geneva Hospital
