Description:
A hands-on bioinformatics workshop aimed at life scientists with little or no knowledge of basic bioinformatic skills. General tools such as Linux command line and regular expressions are explained, and more work is put into building solid programming foundations in Python. Participants learn how to tackle many everyday tasks that come up regardless of their actual scientific question, and how to automate repetitive activities such as querying online databases or extracting information from text files. A full-day introduction into the NGS data analysis will be given, covering in practice the logic behind the filtering, assembly and mapping of short reads.
