ESGNI Executive Committee election results

The ESGNI Executive Committee elections have concluded and the following members have been elected for the term of 2023-2025:

 

  • Margreet Vos, Netherlands
  • Elisabeth Presterl, Austria
  • Walter Zingg, Switzerland
  • Stephanie J. Dancer, UK
  • Cansu Cimen, Germany

 

The new Executive Committee will take office during the ESGNI meeting at ECCMID this year.

 

We thank all previous Executive Committee members for their excellent work over the last years and are looking forward to continuing this work.

Members of ESGNI have conducted a survey on current environmental survey practices that has recently being published (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35944791/).  A podcast discussing this paper can be found at: https://www.podbean.com/ew/pb-u7uq8-12a829e A survey has been carried out on current practices for environmental sampling in healthcare facilities.

 

Current activities in ESCMID guidelines


  1. Diagnosis and treatment of brain abscess (Hilary Humphreys).  These are in preparation and should be available in 2023.
  2. Rituals and Behaviour in the Operating Theatre, jointly with the Healthcare Infection Society (UK) and these are due for completion in late 2022/early 2023. (Hilary Humphreys and Margreet Vos)
  3. Update of the 2014 ESCMID guidelines for the management of the infection prevention & control measures to reduce transmission of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria in hospitalized patients. Status: Reporting and peer review. (Margreet Vos)
  4. Antibiotic surgical prophylaxis regimens among patients colonised by MDR-GNB and MDR-GPB (Elisabeth Presterl) – public review
