Since 2002, our Summer School is a leading ESCMID educational event. This week-long programme focuses on postgraduate studies and medical education, offering expert lectures in Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. Open to MDs completing specialty training, biologists, pharmacists, PhD students, and postdocs in CM and ID. Join us for a comprehensive learning experience.
The 22nd ESCMID Summer School will be held in Doorn, a beautiful town located in Utrecht, Netherlands, from 29 June to 6 July 2024. We are thrilled to welcome participants to discover more about CM and ID.
The 21st ESCMID Summer School programme took place from 1 – 8 July 2023 in Seville, Spain. We enjoyed a week of sunny weather with our diverse group of 82 young physicians, microbiologists, and researchers from 26 countries who explored the vast Hospital Universitario Virgen Macarena and The University of Seville’s School of Medicine, providing attendees with an in-field setting for exchange with local specialists.
During the week workshops took a look at hot topics, such as the building of an Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) programme in their clinical centre, molecular typing for Infection Control (IC), or clinical cases of osteoarticular infections, bacteraemia, and endocarditis. Participants also presented their work, based either on their research projects or clinical cases from their professional experience. This rich academic week served as a wonderful backdrop for discussions between the participants and faculty members, with plenty of networking opportunities. Our group of Summer School participants were able to take advantage of the opportunity to exchange among peers while discovering Seville, whether between sessions, during the various planned evening events or while out visiting cultural sights.
