EEMM Statement of Cooperation

The European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) and the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) Section of Medical Microbiology are working together to make a European Examination in Medical / Clinical Microbiology become a reality.  The drive for European harmonisation is facilitated by the UEMS, the oldest pan-European medical organization. ESCMID is the largest overarching scientific society that promotes dialogue between all professionals working in the field of infections in Europe. We are very happy to announce our cooperation, and firmly believe that united we stand stronger, and that the future lies in European cooperation.

European Examination in Medical Microbiology


Previous onsite exam: 23 May 2022

 

Where: Paris, France

 

The UEMS Section of Medical Microbiology, in partnership with ESCMID, has developed an examination. The examination is based on the Curriculum submitted to European Council 21.09.17 as the CORE TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGY (UEMS Section of Medical Microbiology core curriculum), current European best practice guidelines and recent pivotal publications in the major journals.

 

EXAM:

 

The European Examination will take place on 23 May 2022.

 

The fee for sitting the exam will be 500 euro. All candidates who have participated in the pilot Exam 2021 will be offered a 50% reduction of this fee.

 


QUESTIONS:

 

The question format will be multiple choice, in the single-best-answer format. 

 

 

VENUE:

 

The location is C-FIM Centre de Formation en Imagerie Médicale de la Société Française de Radiologie (European Board of Radiology, EBR) 47, rue de la Colonie - 75013 Paris N° SIRET 353 601 693 00065 - APE : 7217Z .

 

You are required to make your own travel and hotel arrangements, including an appropriate travel insurance. If the exam cannot be held for any unforeseen events or any legitimate and sensible reasons, it will be postponed to the best suitable later date.

 


ELIGIBILITY:

 

The exam is open to candidates who:

 

  • Are a Medical doctor
  • Are a trainee or consultant in Medical Microbiology
  • The country in which the trainee is training is a full member, associate member or observer member of UEMS. The list of countries is accessible on www.uems.eu
  • Have completed a minimum of 42 months (3.5 years) of full-time training in Medical Microbiology and is endorsed by two referees, where at least one should be the trainer/supervisor.

 

A maximum number of 50 candidates will be accepted. For full EEMM eligibility terms and conditions, please see here. The first complete applications received will be the first reviewed and if eligible, the first accepted.

 

REGISTRATION:

 

Registration will be possible through a LINK to the EBR registration site. Proof of eligibility will be required as part of the application process. Eligibility will be determined by the completed application form and valid accompanied documentation.
