WHO biosafety video series

Biological safety cabinets (BSCs) are primary containment devices designed to protect laboratory workers and the surrounding environment from potential exposure to infectious agents. This series of video footage is intended to promote proper usage of BSCs, which is no doubt the most critical biocontainment apparatus.  Knowing some requests of the participants of the WHO’s basic biosafety Training-of-Trainer course in Africa last year, WHO decided to develop visual aids suitable to facilitate local training efforts.

On 6 October 2017 ESCMID President Mario Poljak (right) signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of the society with Caroline Quach (left), President of the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Canada (AMMI Canada).

Potential areas of cooperation between the two societies are contributions to the scientific programmes of annual meetings, the development of medical guidelines and the organization of conferences, education courses and observership visits.
