Public transportation

Public transportation is excellent in Stockholm, so getting around is easy. The city’s extensive and well-organised transport infrastructure includes a subway network, commuter trains, buses as well as trams and boats.

From the Stockholm City / T-Centralen, it’s just 9 minutes by commuter train to Älvsjö Station, the stop for Stockholmsmässan. From the station, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to Stockholmsmässan. Throughout the day, trains are running every 3-7 minutes. Delegates will travel in the opposite direction of the Stockholm commuters when travelling to the venue during the morning peak hour. The same goes for the afternoon peak hour when travelling from the venue back to the Stockholm Central Station.

A walkable city

Stockholm is a compact city with almost everything within easy reach. This reduces the need for transportation and thus carbon emissions - walking is one of the best and most beautiful ways to get around in the city!

Local boat transportation

Travelling by local ferry is a fantastic way to experience a city built on islands. Ferries are used by both commuters and tourists.

Taxi warning

Stockholm has a deregulated taxi market, which means that taxi companies can set their own prices. While many taxi companies are reputable and charge fair rates, some operators charge extremely high fares for short journeys.

To avoid unexpected costs, please note the following:

  • Always check the price before entering the taxi.
  • Taxi fares are displayed on a yellow and white price sticker on the rear passenger window, as required by Swedish law.
  • Some taxis display prices that are significantly higher than the market average, even though they are operating legally.
  • For reference, a journey that typically costs around SEK 400–500 may cost several times more with certain operators.
  • If in doubt, ask the driver for an estimated fare before starting your journey.
  • We strongly recommend using well-known taxi companies, pre-booked transfers, or ride-hailing apps where the fare is shown in advance.

Recommended taxi companies in Stockholm:

  • Taxi Stockholm
  • Sverigetaxi
  • Topcab

For additional safety and transparency, consider using the official taxi booking apps of these companies or reputable ride-hailing services.

Please be cautious when taking a taxi directly from airports, train stations, tourist attractions, or outside event venues, as these are common locations where visitors may encounter excessively priced taxis.
