Printshop Services

A print shop will be available to all delegates and sponsors attending the congress. It will be open every day throughout ESCMID Global with their location in the Mall next to Foyer A.

Basic services (copying and printing business cards) are available on the spot, but most items need to be ordered in advance and can be done so by emailing messe(at)printshop.at directly.

General Information A-Z

App
The ESCMID Global 2025 app will be available on 11/03/2025 and will be your guide to the congress programme, extras and networking with other attendees. It will be available on both Google and iOS stores.
 

Accessibility
The venue is wheelchair accessible. Elevators are available and marked on the floorplan for usage. Congress personnel can direct you to the nearest elevator.
 

ATM
An ATM can be found in the mall, next to Foyer A.

Badges
All participants and exhibitors are required to wear their badges throughout the congress (12-15 April 2025 and for certain sessions on the 11th of April). Access to the scientific sessions will only be possible with your personal full congress name badge.
The replacement of a lost badge costs 100 EUR. A name change costs 50 EUR.

Charging Point
There are plugs around the venue which can be used. There are also two lockable charging stations in the mall next to the sponsored working stations.
 

Cameras and Recordings
Electronic recording or excessive photography of presentation slides is prohibited in all lecture halls during all sessions.
 

Catering
Congress registration does not include catering. There are numerous restaurant and cafe areas scattered around the venue. Please see the venue map or ask congress personnel for information. Credit card and cash are the accepted payment methods. Additionally, there are some restaurant options outside of the venue in close vicinity.


Childcare
Children are not allowed inside the venue except for Foyer A and Foyer D. There is a lactation room for those who need it in Foyer A. You can follow the signage or the floor plan on the mobile app to get there.


Cloakroom/Luggage Storage
The cloakroom and luggage storage are available throughout the congress days. There are two options available, one in Foyer A and the other in Foyer D. Suitcases are not allowed in the venue and must be checked and stored at the designated cloakroom/luggage storage areas.

Congress Registration
Upon receiving registration payments by ESCMID, each participant will receive a registration confirmation by email. Barcodes are sent ten and again two days before the
congress to all registered delegates. Please bring your registration confirmation and go directly to the badge self-print stations in either of the registration areas in the venue.

Delegates with a group registration will receive information on how badges and congress materials are distributed from a group coordinator.

If you plan to register onsite, please follow the signs to “New Registration”. You may pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) or cash in EUR.

Currency
The official currency used in Austria is the EUR. Although credit cards are generally accepted in taxis and most other places, it is advisable to ask before if they accept cards. We advise you to bring a small amount of cash.

Dining in Vienna
Austrian dining culture typically follows a more structured schedule, with lunch served between 12:00 and 14:00 and dinner starting around 18:00. However, many restaurants in Vienna accommodate international visitors with extended hours. It is highly
recommended to reserve a table online or by phone in advance, especially on weekends, as popular spots can fill up quickly. While the city is generally quieter in the late evening, numerous restaurants and bars remain lively until the later hours.

Electricity Supply
In Austria, power plugs and sockets are type C and follow the European standard of 230V and 50Hz. It is recommended for attendees to bring adapters.


Emergency
In the event of an emergency, dial 112 from any phone to connect you to the Emergency Services. The dispatch centre will redirect the call accordingly for the type of request to the appropriate emergency service.


Exhibition
The exhibition is located in Hall B & C. Directions are visible through signage and on the mobile app. Congress personnel are also informed and are able to give the correct directions.

First Aid
There are two first aid stations at the venue, which can be found in the congress centre and Hall D. Please reer to the floorplan or more details. In case of an emergency, please approach a congress staf member or security for assistance.

Hotels
Please avoid booking through websites that claim they are working for ESCMID Global. In case of doubts, please contact ESCMID. ESCMID is not responsible for fraudulent bookings made though any other channel than the ofifcial ESCMID Global provider.
Congrex Switzerland is the official congress partner or hotel accommodation and is the only agency offering accommodation on behalf of ESCMID Global.

Insurance
The congress organisers accept no liability for any injuries sustained, or any property loss or damage during, or as a result of the congress. Please ensure that your insurance is valid.

Internet
Free Wi-Fi is available at the venue. You’ll find the network name and password onsite, or ask congress personnel for assistance. Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on your device; if no networks appear, check your settings or contact your provider.

Keynote Lectures
Keynote lectures at ESCMID Global cover key topics in microbiology and infectious diseases, featuring leading experts who provide an overview of the latest research and developments. These sessions are designed for both specialists and non-specialists, offering insights into cutting-edge advancements and ongoing challenges in the field. Check the congress app to see the schedule and plan which lectures to attend.


Keynote Fireplace
Fireplace sessions are open discussions held right after the Keynote Lecture or Interview, designed to create an informal and interactive setting. They provide an opportunity for ESCMID trainees and early career members to engage with experts, ask questions, and exchange ideas in a relaxed environment. The sessions takes place in Hall A in the designated area. Check the congress app for the schedule and session details.

Lactation Room
The lactation room is located in Foyer A and open during congress hours. The room does not have a refrigerator for milk storage.
 

Language
The official language o ESCMID Global is English. The official language in Austria is German.
 

Lost and Found
Items that are found at the venue will be collected by the staff and brought to the registration desk in Foyer A for the duration of the congress. Lost items will be stored at the venue until one month after the congress.

Meeting and working areas
Delegates have multiple opportunities to connect in dedicated meeting and working areas throughout the venue. These areas are conveniently located opposite Session Halls 7, 8, and 9 in the mall, providing a comfortable setting for discussions. Additionally, spacious seating areas can be found in Halls A and C, offering more informal spots for networking and collaboration.
 

Mobile Phone Policy
We kindly ask that calls are not made and your phones switched to silent mode during all sessions. Pictures should not be taken during sessions to respect speakers privacy as well as the copyright of the presented material.

Opening Ceremony
The ESCMID Global opening ceremony will take place on Saturday 12.04.2025, 18:30 in Session Hall 1 of Hall A of the venue.

Parking
Cars can be parked at the public Car Park A (located at Nordportalstrasse 4/Max-Koppe-Gasse, 1020 Vienna) at a rate of EUR 4,20 per hour. Clearance is 2 meters.
 

Photographers
There are official ESCMID Global photographers, responsible or capturing and preserving moments during the event including the sessions and events throughout ESCMID Global. A selection of these photos will be uploaded on the website.


Prayer and Reflection Room
The Prayer and Reflection Room is located in the mall. Contact our congress personnel onsite or look on the congress app to guide you. 


Press Centre
The press centre is just outside the venue in a separate building, with access through the mall. Formore details, please reer to the floorplan on the congress app.

Those who have obtained their full congress badge will also receive a public transportation pass to use in Vienna throughout the congress days (12 – 15 April 2025).

Speakers’ Ready Room
Onsite speakers can provide congress personnel with their presentations in the Speakers’ Ready Room. It is located in the congress centre. Please reer to the floorplan on the congress app or follow the signage. Speakers must either provide their presentations on a USB stick (no later than three hours prior to the start of the session) or upload their presentation online from their speaker profile area until Thursday 10.04.2025 here.
In the Speakers’ Ready Room, the presenters can check their presentation and, if necessary, make slight modifications. Technicians will be available in the room for support/assistance.

Transport
Located in the heart of Vienna, Messe Wien Congress Center can be accessed easily by
public transport. The Messe - Prater station is the most convenient stop, leading directly to Foyer A, the main entrance. The venue is a short metro ride from the city centre (15 min) by metro and only 18 km from Vienna International Airport.
 

Public transportation
U2 Metro Line runs from various parts of the city to Messe Wien, providing a direct and efficient connection. It links with other major metro lines, making it easy to reach the venue from almost anywhere in Vienna. The most convenient station for accessing the main entrance at Foyer A is Messe - Prater. Another nearby option is the Krieau station, which is close to Foyer D.

An invitation letter to be used for your visa application can be obtained after completing

Water Stations
During the congress there will be free water stations available, located throughout the venue. It is encouraged to keep your water bottles around to refill them as we don’t provide cups. There will also be sponsored bottled water given out on starting as of Saturday, 12.04.2025, while supply lasts.

You do not need to register before the congress but it is highly recommended to save time onsite. You can see the opening hours of the registration desk here where you can register onsite.

All participants and exhibitors are required to wear their badges throughout the Congress. Access to the congress area will only be possible with your personal name badge. We charge 100 EUR (€) for the replacement of a lost badge. For any name change, we charge a fee of 50 EUR (€).

You can collect your badge and congress material at the marked collection points in the congress venue during their respective opening hours.

Both Onsite and Online only ESCMID Global registrations come with access to the content platform where sessions will be live-streamed during the congress and also available for on demand replay afterwards.

Children under the age of 18 are not permitted to accompany ESCMID Global delegates. Children are not allowed on the venue grounds.
