The ESCMID Global annual Movie Session returns in 2026, offering a unique opportunity to explore pressing scientific and societal challenges through the lens of film and expert discussion. This year’s selected film is Don't Look Up (2021). With dark humor, the film offers a commentary on science communication, public perception, and collective action in the face of global risk.
The theme of this year’s Movie Session is Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). Using the film as a catalyst, the session will explore parallels between the movie’s narrative and real-world challenges in AMR awareness, communication, policy response, and global action.
Following the screening, a panel of experts will engage in a moderated discussion, reflecting on the film’s themes and their relevance to AMR and broader public health challenges.
