Aims and objectives

The ESCMID Study Group for Genomic and Molecular Diagnostics (ESGMD) plays a crucial role in improving the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and control of infectious diseases by harnessing the power of molecular and genomic techniques. Committed to pioneer innovation, research, education, and policy development in clinical microbiology in diagnostics, ESGMD aims to:

  • Launch international research projects
  • Train professionals in new diagnostics
  • Develop policies for the integration and interpretation of genomic and molecular diagnostics
  • Foster a global community of experts dedicated to advancing these new diagnostic approaches
