ESGIAI Scientific Projects

Scientific activity is one of the cornerstones of the ESGIAI study group. Multidisciplinary studies aimed to answer the questions that are still unsolved in the field of implant-associated infections are welcome, and the executive committee encourages all members to promote new studies. Study proposals can be submitted to the ESGIAI executive committee by using the following document.
Presently, the following studies are under the support of ESGIAI:

Prospective data collection for PJI

The ESGIAI study group has developed a CRF to prospectively collect data for PJIs. This CRF is freely available by downloading an app via the Apple store by searching via keywords “PJI database”. The data included in the app can be exported into an excel file for data analysis. The advantage of using this app is that the study group is collecting the same variables with the same definitions, making it easy to initiate prospective studies. In addition, people using the app have ownership over their own data. If you have any questions about the app or have suggestions for improvement, you can contact Alex Soriano or Marjan Wouthuyzen-Bakker (science[at]escmid.org).

The study group is momentarily working on incorporating the same variables as the ones included in the app, in RedCap. If you have any questions about the use of REDCap, you can contact: Yvonne Achermann (science[at]escmid.org)
