Legal framework of antimicrobial stewardship in hospitals (LEASH): a European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) cross-sectional international survey
Beovic et al, International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents 2018, vol. 52, 616-621.
In this survey, the authors invited experts from 32 European countries, Israel and Turkey to participate in a cross-sectional survey on the legal framework of antimicrobial stewardship in hospitals. Roughly three-quarters of participants reported having a document such as a law, regulation, strategy, or action plan adopted by the highest healthcare authority. The legal frameworks of antimicrobial stewardship in hospitals in Europe seem very heterogeneous and insufficient. The authors called for more regulations, especially in countries with high antimicrobial consumption and resistance. The LEASH Study Group was formed from the experts of participating countries, mostly ESGAP members and their contacts.

“Selective reporting of antibiotic susceptibility test results in European countries: an ESCMID cross-sectional survey” published
EUCIC, ESGAP and EUCAST launched a European survey to explore in which countries selective reporting of antibiotic susceptibility testing results has already been implemented at a large scale (regional, national) and how it has been organized. The survey “Selective reporting of antibiotic susceptibility test results in European countries: an ESCMID cross-sectional survey” has now been published in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents.
