ESGAI Executive Committee election results

The ESGAI Executive Committee elections have concluded and the following members have been elected for the term of 2023-2025:

 

  • Trefor Morris, UK
  • Jozsef Soki, Hungary
  • Yann Dumont, France
  • Michael Buhl, Germany
  • Samo Jeverica, Slovenia

 

The new Executive Committee will take office during the ESGAI meeting at ECCMID this year.

 

We thank all previous Executive Committee members for their excellent work over the last years and are looking forward to continuing this work.

Young Scientist and LMIC Travel Grant for ECCMID 2023

The ESCMID Study Group for Anaerobic Infections (ESGAI) ECCMID 2023 grants for young members and members from Low and Middle Income Countries (LMIC).

 

The ESGAI have decided to provide grants for ECCMID 2023 in Copenhagen aimed at young members (≤35 years old) and members attending from Low and Middle Income Countries (LMIC, as defined by ESCMID).

 

There are 7 grants available:

 

  • 3 of up to 300€ each for members of LMIC
  • 4 of up to 600€ each for young members

 

These grants can be used towards reimbursement of travel, accommodation and registration fees for attending ECCMID 2023, provided receipts are produced.

 

The conditions that apply to the grants will be:

 

  • Having an accepted abstract to ECCMID 2023 related to anaerobic bacteria
  • Being an active (paid subscription) member of ESCMID, and a member of ESGAI at the date of the congress.

 

To apply, please send an email to esgai.contact@gmail.com with the following evidence:

 

  • The submitted abstract
  • The confirmation of acceptance email from ECCMID

 

The submission deadline is March 21st, 2023 at 23:59 CEST.

 

Your application will be reviewed by the ESGAI executive committee, and you will be informed soon after the closing date if you have been successful.

2020 Annual Report Published

The Annual Report showcasing the achievements of the previous year is now available to view. 2020 was a challenging year due to COVID-19, but check out the report to see what the Study Group was able to accomplish or plan for the future.

New ESGAI Secretary elected

August 18, 2020

ESGAI held a special election to fill the role of Secretary in the ESGAI Executive Committee. Dr. Jozsef Soki (Hungary) was elected and will fulfill the role until the next Executive Committee elections.

New Executive Committee takes office

ESGAI has a new executive committee composed of:

  • Chair: Dr Linda Veloo, Netherlands
  • Secretary: Dr Miriam Cordovana, Italy
  • Treasurer: Dr Samo Jeverica, Slovenia

Trefor Morris and Ingrid Wybo as members of the election committee invited the membership to nominate candidates and vote. The results of the elections are the following:

  • Number of members with voting right: 49
  • Number of voters: 21 (42.9%)

Candidates:

  • Samo Jeverica , Slovenia        19 votes, elected
  • Linda Veloo, The Netherlands        19 votes, elected
  • Miriam Cordovana, Italy        18 votes, elected

The new executive committee is elected for two years.
