Submission of Abstracts

 

 

I've noticed that for abstract submission it is mandatory to be an ESCMID member. Is this correct?
You don’t need to be a member to submit an abstract, but you need an ESCMID account, that can be created here at no cost.

Is it required to be registered for the conference in order to submit an abstract?
It is not required to be registered for the conference in order to submit an abstract, but you need an ESCMID account, that can be created here at no cost. If your abstract is accepted, it will be required that you register for the conference in order to be able to present your work.


Are agencies allowed to submit abstracts on behalf of the authors?
Yes, agencies can submit abstracts. Kindly note that you need an ESCMID account to submit an abstract, which can be generated here. Submitting agencies will be informed about the outcome of the abstract;
they are kindly requested to forward this information to all involved authors.

How many abstracts can be submitted by author?
An author can submit as many abstracts as they want. There is no limitation. This includes also co-authorship.

How can I add my study group?
Please add your third-party references in the corresponding field.

Is your abstract supported by an organization or institute? Do you submit the abstract on behalf of someone else?
Add as many references as you need.

Will you accept abstracts of narrative literature review?
We can accept literature reviews, but only with a case-report.

What is the structure of the abstract I want to submit?
For regular abstracts we require the following 4 parts: Background/Methods/Results/Conclusion.

For case-reports these should be replaced by: Background/Case report/Learning points/Conclusions.

I wonder whether you allow submission of abstracts featuring systematic review, meta-analysis and network meta-analysis?
Yes, we do, please submit your abstract by using the official submission system.

How can I add pictures to my abstract?
While filling in your abstract, please use the figure upload fields at the bottom to select up to 3 images from your computer.

Formats: JPEG or PNG. Size: 1000 width x 1000 height max. File weight: 50 MB max.

How can I add a table to my abstract?
Tables can be added in the textbox by using the table icon. Kindly note that this is counting towards the total amount of characters.

Is there a limit to the number of authors per abstract?
We do not have a limit of authors per abstract as long as accepted criteria for authorship are fulfilled. We would not recommend more than 30 persons, due to the readability of the abstract. Study groups can also be added separately, please use therefore the field: Abstract third-party references.

Do you accept literature reviews?
Submission of narrative reviews is strongly discouraged while systematic reviews and case reports with literature review will be considered.

Are ‘Trials in Progress’ permitted to be submitted to ECCVID?
If you are running a ‘Trial in Progress’, in which results are partially available now, you may submit these in an abstract.

Do you accept abstracts on national Public Health policies, for example, reimbursement policies?
Yes, we accept abstracts on national policies including concerns for individual countries, regardless of geographic setting. These abstracts fall within category i. Public health policy, mitigation.

Do you accept abstracts in which only a part of the results will be published before 13.09.2020 for the submission?
Yes, we do.

Can we use brand names?
Brand names cannot be used in titles; product names can be used in titles, but we suggest to avoid them.

Are encore abstract submissions permitted to be submitted to ECCVID?
If your work has already been published in a journal (including “online early”), it cannot be submitted to ECCVID.

If your work has been published online as a preprint article, it is acceptable for it to be submitted to ECCVID; however the preprint should be cited in the submitted abstract.

Submission of your abstract to other conferences does not preclude you from submitting it for ECCVID.

Can I add figures or additional text from what was in my originally submitted abstract?
You are able to update your abstract as long as it is a draft and before the submission deadline. Please contact us if you need to amend a submitted abstract.
