European Examination in Medical Microbiology

UEMS Section of Medical Microbiology, in partnership with ESCMID, is developing an exit examination which once developed will lead to a European Specialist Diploma in Medical Microbiology.

The examination will examine knowledge based on the UEMS Section of Medical Microbiology core curriculum. https://uems-smm.eu/fileadmin/eventpages/uems-smm/template/Documents/4.2.7-UEMS-MM-curriculum-submitted-European-council-2017.09.21.pdf and current European best practice guidelines.

 

PILOT EXAM:
The PILOT examination will take place on Friday 17th April 2020 in Paris from 3-6 pm. Registration is from 2-3 pm.

This exam is offered free of charge, and -as a pilot- will not lead to the award of a Diploma.

All participating candidates will be offered a 50% reduction on entry fee for one sitting of the diploma examination in the following two years.


QUESTIONS:

The question format will be Multiple Choice, with some single-best-answer and some extended matching questions.

               Training Center in Medical Imaging of the of the French Society of Radiology,                      47 rue da la Colonie 75013 Paris


ELIGIBILITY:

The pilot exam is open to candidates who:

·        Are a Medical doctor

·        Are a trainee in Medical Microbiology

·        The country in which the trainee is training is a full member, associate member or observer member of UEMS 

·        Have completed a minimum of 30 months of full-time training (or equivalent) in Medical Microbiology

·        Consultants in Medical Microbiology are also welcome

The number of places is limited and will be filled with the first 50 eligible candidates. Proof of eligibility will be required.

Call for examiners for proposed European Specialist Certificate Examination in Infectious Disease

In collaboration with ESCMID, the UEMS Infectious Disease Board is planning a pilot European Specialist Certificate examination in April 2021 and needs a large group of volunteer specialists to contribute questions for inclusion in the exam.

We are keen to involve specialists at all levels of experience after specialist registration, from as many countries as possible, in order to represent the wide variety of practice across Europe. Applications for this round must be received by 18:00 CET on Friday 31 January 2020, but expressions of interest for following years may also be sent.


Contributors will be invited to a training Workshop on writing and editing questions in Paris on the evening of Tuesday 21 April until mid-afternoon Wednesday 22 April 2020, immediately after the 30th ECCMID For those able to stay in Paris after 30th ECCMID, hotel costs for the night of Tuesday 21 April 2020, meals and refreshments will be provided by ESCMID. Potential question contributors are invited to apply even if they cannot attend this Workshop.
