Activities in 2012

TAE SC met in Ljubljana

On 18-19 December 2012, the seventh TAE SC meeting was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, at the Institute of Microbiology and Immunology, Medical Faculty of Ljubljana. Since the founding members of the TAE SC were at the end of their term, the TAE activities were handed over to a newly elected generation of SC members at the meeting in Ljubljana, who will successfully continue the work on the ongoing TAE projects and implement the new ideas for improvement of CM and ID training and collaboration and communication among the trainees across the Europe in the future.

TAE Steering Committee Election October 2012

We are pleased to announce the results of the second TAE SC election in 2012. The following candidates were elected by simple majority:

Infectious Diseases

  • Joana Cortez (Coimbra, Portugal), with 27 votes
  • Alejandro Martin-Quiros (Madrid, Spain), with 22 votes

Clinical Microbiology

  • Chrysanthi Skevaki (Athens, Greece), with 28 votes
  • Kanita Dedic (Bihac, Bosnia and Herzegovina), with 26 votes

 We congratulate the newly elected TAE SC members and welcome them to the TAE Steering Committee. We would also like to thank all candidates for their interest and active participation in the electoral procedure.

Trainee Association of ESCMID - Educational quiz

Trainee Association of ESCMID (TAE) is preparing an educational activity in a form of an online quiz. To test the interest of European trainees, we are running a pilot quiz with just 10 questions on. This pilot quiz was open until 15 November 2012.

In April 2013 the term of a number of TAE Steering Committee (TAE SC) members end. The resulting vacancies for a four-year term (2013-2017) are to be filled with 4 new members (2 in Clinical Microbiology and 2 in Infectious Diseases) who will be elected in October 2012. The call for candidates is open until 28 September 2012. If your profile matches the candidate requirements, nominate yourself for the election from 3 - 28 September 2012. 

TAE SC met in London

On 1 April 2012, the sixth meeting of the TAE Steering Committee members took place at ECCMID 2012 in London, UK.

The awards ceremony took place during the TAE Trainees Day at ECCMID 2012 in London. The following trainees received their awards for their achievements:

Trainees Day at ECCMID 2012

In April 2012 two TAE Steering Committee (TAE SC) members will step down. The resulting vacancies for a four-year term (2012-2016) are to be filled with two new members who will be elected in February 2012. To nominate yourself for the election, please submit your online application from 10 January 2012 until 31 January 2012.

Next Trainees Day at ECCMID 2012

The next Trainees Day will take place in London on the afternoon of the 31st March. All trainees in Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases are strongly advised to attend this session which will see world renowned speakers covering the topics of antimicrobial dosing and tropical medicine from both an Infectious Diseases and a Clinical Microbiological perspective.
