Course Objectives

This course will provide updated information in an interdisciplinary setting on:

  • Epidemiology and burden of infectious diseases in pregnancy and newborns
  • Pathogenesis of fetal and neonatal damages
  • Pre- and post-natal counseling
  • Setting collaborative diagnostic and clinical pathways for management of infections in pregnant women and newborns
  • Prevention and therapy of vertical transmitted infections

The course will be a mix of lectures by expert scientists in the field and interactive group discussions.

20–50 young clinicians (experts in infectious diseases, obstetricians, gynaecologists, neonatologists, paediatricians, microbiologists and virologists), biologists or other graduated people involved in the field.
