Open call to join the new ESCMID Academy working group
ESCMID is seeking volunteers to form a new ESCMID Academy working group, under the ESCMID Education Subcommittee. The term is from April 2023 to April 2027.
The European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) is the leading society in the world in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases, with members from all European countries and on all continents.
The aim of the ESCMID Academy working group is to assist ESCMID in expanding its e-learning portfolio and in developing a new educational platform by providing new ideas for online educational activities, selecting topics, and establishing a calendar.
Ideally, the new ESCMID Academy working group members would be professionals in the field of clinical microbiology or infectious diseases.
This is an excellent opportunity for those of you who are passionate about education to participate in and influence ESCMID's educational initiatives. The ESCMID academy online platform should serve as a learning tool for increasing accessibility and improving quality of practice in the field of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. Additionally, members are able to increase their visibility and networking within the ESCMID community.
Key responsibilities
- to have a good understanding of the organisation of the Society. This includes awareness of the vision, values, and mission.
- to prepare for and attend all ESCMID Academy working group meetings. This will occur by teleconference monthly and once per year in person during the ECCMID conference.
- to propose to the Education Subcommittee priority topics and methods for the ESCMID Academy programme.
- to evaluate proposals for e-learning educational activities (interactive postgraduate courses, webinars and Master programmes, and provide new ideas for content delivery) to be delivered through the online ESCMID Academy.
- to constantly evaluate the existing content of the ESCMID Academy and address the need to update when necessary.
Duration of term
The duration of term for the ESCMID Academy working group is four years.
Qualifications and requirements
To be considered for the position, applicants must be an ESCMID member in good standing and have experience and interest in the organisation and planning of medical education.
Qualified applicants are invited to send their CV and a cover letter (max. 2 pages) stating their motivation, qualifications, and experience to ESCMID’s science programme and education coordinator, Majella Ding majella.ding[at]escmid.org.
Short-listed candidates will be informed of their status and interviewed over the following weeks.
