The Society

Ilaria Capua selected to be ESCMID Excellence Awardee 2014!

ESCMID proudly welcomes her to the list of distinguished recipients of the ESCMID Award for Excellence in Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases over the years. As part of the award, she will be giving a talk at ECCMID Barcelona on 12 May 2014.

Annelies Zinkernagel elected to ESCMID Executive Committee!

We are pleased to announce that Dr Annelies Zinkernagel (Zurich, Switzerland) has won the 2013 Election for the ESCMID Executive Committee, held in accordance with the ESCMID Statutes.  The new composition of the ESCMID Executive Committee will be effective after the Assembly of Members in May 2014.


Professional Affairs

Registration now open for conference on the future development of the CM and ID specialties!

ESCMID welcomes all those practising in the fields, both senior and junior to the 3rd ESCMID Workshop on Professional Affairs in Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. Objectives are to: review the status of the specialities, Clinical/Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, across Europe and to discuss initiatives to improve the organisational basis for medical practice in our disciplines.

Two positions open at the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin and a one-year funded research fellowship position in CHU, Nice France

Just published! ESCMID guidelines for the management of the infection control measures to reduce transmission of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria in hospitalized patients

These evidence-based guidelines have been produced after a systematic review of published studies on infection prevention and control interventions aimed at reducing the transmission of MDR-GNB.
