The Society

Michael Ramharter and Joost Wiersinga receive ESCMID Young Investigator Award 2014!

These outstanding professionals will be honoured during the Young Investigator Session at ECCMID 2014 in Barcelona on 13 May 2014 from 11.30-12.30 in Hall E. During the session each awardee will hold a lecture on his respective field of work.

 

Professional Affairs

Registration open and attendance grants available for Professional Affairs Conference!

ESCMID welcomes all those practising in the fields, both senior and junior to the 3rd ESCMID Workshop on Professional Affairs in CM and ID from 5-6 June in Ljubljana. Objectives are to: review the status of the specialities, Clinical/Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, across Europe and to discuss initiatives to improve the organisational basis for medical practice in our disciplines.

Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Veterinary Infectious Diseases

This full-time permanent position is at the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) and targets those who are research-active in Zoonotic/infectious diseases.

 

ESCMID events

Save the date - ESCMID Conference on Reviving Old Antibiotics!

On 22 - 24 October 2014 top experts will meet in Vienna, Austria, to present and summarise currently available knowledge regarding optimised clinical use of off-patent antibiotics and will discuss gaps of knowledge and future areas of research as well as adapting breakpoints, enriching treatment guidelines, and implications for regulatory issues.

Especially for young professionals - ESCMID Summer School!

Gain valuable knowledge in CM and ID - meet experts - network with and learn from colleagues from all over the world! This ever-popular event is held in Sigtuna, Sweden, from 5 – 12 July 2014. Registrations and grant applications are accepted until 9 May 2014.

ECCMID 2014 - Registration savings until 17 March - Stage set for more record breaking!

ESCMID proudly presents the 13 Research Grantees for 2014. They were selected from a record number of 145 submitted applications.
A big THANK YOU goes to the 137 Reviewers without whom a diligent evaluation would not have been possible. They are acknowledged on the grants website.

Our Clostridium difficile group, ESGCD, has published this document as supplement to ESCMID's society journal Clinical Microbiology and Infection: Vol 20, I s2, pages 1–26, March 2014. In the "Medical Guidelines" section of the website, you can find all details and links to the free full text.
