Almost 3,000 posters accepted for presentation at ECCMID

So far, 9,826 people have signed up for ECCMID with the top number of attendees coming from the United Kingdom, Spain and the United States. There will be 27 integrated symposia and 162 exhibitors this year. 

Luisa Denkel of Charité wins ISF/ESCMID Sepsis Award

Luisa Denkel from the Institute of Hygiene and Environmental Medicine at the Charité University Medical Center in Berlin, Germany has won this year’s ISF/ESCMID Sepsis Award to recognize her outstanding abstract on the topic of sepsis submitted to ECCMID 2015.

Médecins Sans Frontières receives exceptional award

ESCMID will honour Médecins Sans Frontières’ achievements with a special and unique ESCMID Excellence Award during the Ebola session at this year’s ECCMID. With this prize the society wants to recognize the outstanding contribution of MSF’s more than 30,000 employees who on a daily basis put their own lives at risk to assist people in need all across the world. The award will be accepted by MSF doctor Hilde de Clerck (s. picture); one of the first experts on the scene after Ebola broke out in Guinea in March 2014.

Small companies present their R&D at Pipeline Corner

ECCMID will for the first time host a session on drugs in development, followed by discussions and presentations on electronic posters. The idea of the Pipeline Corner is to give 12 small companies the opportunity to present their anti-microbial R&D programmes.
