ESCMID welcomes experts in Clinical Microbiology (CM) and Infectious Diseases (ID) from all countries and career stages, with a strong focus on inclusiveness and parity. You can become an ESCMID member, or renew your current membership all year round by following a simple process. Membership begins as soon as payment has been received and continues for the chosen duration.
ESCMID offers a wide range of membership levels to give members access to the benefits and privileges most suited to their situation. We offer flexible membership durations ranging from one to five years. Upon successful transaction, you will immediately be sent a receipt, which you may use for reimbursement by your institute, if appropriate. When renewing your membership, any remaining days from your previous period will be added to the duration of your new membership. *For bank transfer, please contact the membership office, we will be happy to provide you with an invoice including bank details.

Thanks to the collaboration between ESCMID and the European Respiratory Society (ERS), ERS members are offered a 15% discount on the price of each ESCMID membership (not applicable on fees for print journals). To benefit from this discount, please contact us with proof of your current ERS membership (including the expiry date). Please note this application can only be paid by invoice. ESCMID members can also benefit from a 15% discount on an ERS membership. During the ERS application process, ESCMID members can choose “ESCMID” from the list of ERS-affiliates societies to apply the discount.

The ESCMID membership counsellor (EMeC) is a trusted contact and point of reference for all members of the Society to seek advice, discuss problems and ideas. No, ESCMID is not able to offer free membership nor can the fees be waived as many discounts on ESCMID events are built into membership fees. We do however offer special discounts for LMIC* members. *According to the World Bank classification.
Yes, membership fees can be paid by bank transfer when requesting the invoice here. Important: When asking for an invoice, the duration and type of membership should be provided. Please be informed that you might need to present proof for YSM or LMIC memberships.
We cannot make changes to running memberships, however we can upgrade your membership from Basic to Full. For that, you can contact us. Please note that membership upgrades will only become effective once the payment has been made.
No, ESCMID memberships run for a minimum of one year (365 days) and expire automatically if not renewed.
Yes, all paid memberships offer a reduced fee for ESCMID Global (and other ESCMID events). Only Web users (non-members) will not benefit from discounts on events, as these accounts are not active ESCMID memberships.
