There are less than two weeks left to submit abstracts for ECCMID in Amsterdam

The abstract submission deadline is 29 November (midnight CET) for ECCMID, which takes place from 9 – 12 April 2016 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. You will find information on the faculty, scientific programme and registration on the congress website.

ESCMID invites you to elect three new members to the Executive Committee starting Monday

In April 2016 Past-President Gunnar Kahlmeter and Treasurer Cornelia Lass-Flörl will complete their terms on the executive committee, while Professional Affairs Officer Evelina Tacconelli will stand for re-election after completing her first term. According to the bylaws, two new members representing clinical microbiology and one representing infectious diseases will be elected. You will be able to choose from a number of candidates with excellent qualifications and extensive experience. The 2015 online election for the ESCMID Executive Committee is open as of Monday 23 November. It will close Monday, 14 December 2015 at 12:00 noon CET.

EUCIC, ESGAP publish newsletter ahead of European Antibiotics Awareness Day

The European Committee on Infection Control (EUCIC) and ESCMID Study Group for Antibiotic Policies (ESGAP) published a newsletter to coincide with the EAAD. EUCIC, whose objective it is to objective is to create a new infection, control and prevention (IPC) network, is currently setting up national committees. ESGAP is currently conducting a European-wide survey on the “teaching on prudent antibiotic prescribing” among final-year medical students. ESCMID supports various activities on the European Antibiotics Awareness Day on 18 November and during the World Antibiotics Awareness Week from 16 – 22 November. A press release can be found here.
