ESGARS, EUCAST contribute to WHO’s CAESAR report on antimicrobial resistance

The ESCMID Study Group for Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance (ESGARS) and the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) contributed to a recently published 2014 WHO report describing antimicrobial resistance data gathered through the Central Asian and Eastern European Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (CAESAR) network. This report describes the resistance data from five countries in the WHO European Region. It aims to provide guidance and inspiration to countries that are building or strengthening their national systems for antimicrobial resistance surveillance and to stimulate the international sharing of data. WHO and its partners remain committed to supporting countries in these endeavours through the activities of the CAESAR network.

The grant deadline for the course on antimicrobial stewardship is 4 September

The ESCMID postgraduate education course Moving Antimicrobial Stewardship Forward in Special Population Settings, which takes place 5-6 November in Ferney-Voltaire, France, is aimed at ID specialists, geriatricians and physicians in charge of antimicrobial stewardship programmes. The objective is to provide specialists with a scenario of future challenges, to broaden the concept for specific patient settings and to offer insights into how to manage multidrug-resistant organisms.
