This guideline is an update of the previous guideline, published almost 10 years ago. Consequently, this guideline takes into account new information from randomized clnical trials conducted over the past years, as well as the results from studies relating to the epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of hospital-acquired and ventilator-associated pneumonia.

Through the concerted effort of a multidisciplinary group of international clinicians, 15 experts and two methodologists updated the guideline by addressing seven PICO questions. The resulting full text can be accessed through the following page.

The world’s first guidelines for chronic fungal lung infections for doctors and laboratories have been published by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). Published in the European Respiratory Journal, these new guidelines describe the important features of this disease and provide comprehensive treatment recommendations.
