ECCMID 2021 virtual symposium: Now available on demand

Treating invasive mould disease in an era of complex epidemiology and patient needs

The industry-sponsored symposium, ‘Treating invasive mould disease in an era of complex epidemiology and patient needs’, took place virtually at this year’s meeting of the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) on Sunday 11 July, 2021. In case you missed it, you can find it available on demand until 5 September, 2021.

This symposium explores the management of invasive mould disease (IMD) in real-world settings, including cases of COVID-19 and obesity. The faculty highlight the value of a diagnostic-driven approach for the management of IMD, and how it can be tailored to time- or resource-limited settings. Additionally, the complexities of antifungal pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), with emphasis on both drug–drug interactions and how to use antifungal PK/PD information to select the most appropriate antifungal treatment, are discussed. The symposium concludes with a case study demonstrating how these learnings can be applied to a clinical setting.
