‘The role of patients in infectious disease research – from study participants to scientific partners’
|
|
We are pleased to invite you to attend the industry-sponsored symposium, ‘The role of patients in infectious disease research – from study participants to scientific partners’, taking place at this year’s meeting of the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) on Friday 9 July, 2021 (16:15–17:45 [CEST]).
As the first step in a paradigm shift, the virtual patient-centric symposium will explore how and why healthcare professionals can partner with the patient community in infectious disease research. Initially the symposium will explore the spectrum of patient involvement in research, where patient-partnered research sits on this spectrum for infectious disease and what it can provide in terms of clinical value. Further focus will be on identifying what has worked well for patient-partnered research in other therapy areas including oncology and kidney disease, how funding and publishing can facilitate patient involvement in research, case studies of patient participation in research, and the current status of patient-partnered research in infectious disease. Finally, the symposium will conclude with a panel discussion related to the opportunities in infectious disease, as well as the next steps as a research community with ECCMID 2022 in view.
If you have not yet registered for ECCMID and would like to do so, please follow the link:

We look forward to welcoming you to this patient-focused event.
