In a commentary in its journal CMI, ESCMID’s Executive Committee stresses the importance cross-border collaboration, research and education have played for the society since its foundation in 1983. As an international society ESCMID provides a global and open platform for scientists of different fields and nationalities. In the article the executives underline that the society is committed to the practice of evidence-based medicine, to the creation of knowledge through mobility and international collaboration and that it supports initiatives that help improve patient care.
