WHO EML AWaRe antibiotic book

The WHO has recently released the WHO EML AWaRe antibiotic book, in which several ESCMID members have collaborated actively. The AWaRe book provides concise, evidence-based guidance on how to use the antibiotics included on WHO's Model Lists of Essential Medicines and is an important step towards improving clinical care, the optimal use of antibiotics in humans and the development of AMR policy.

ESCMID Young Investigator Awardees

Congratulations to the four Young Investigator Awardees for 2023, Jacob Bodilsen, Belen Gutierrez-Gutierrez, Olivier Van Hecke and Anne Wyllie! These young researchers are recognised for their outstanding work and scientific excellence stimulating further work at a top scientific level. You can read more about them on the ESCMID website.

Apply for the CAREer grant until 15 January 2023

The ESCMID CAREer Grant is aimed at ESCMID members working in the fields of clinical microbiology, infectious diseases and infection control who need support to advance their scientific career whilst looking after their children or suffering from an unexpected situation that prevents them from working full-time (disease, care of ill parents, …). Call is open until 15th January 2023.

Congratulations to the 2023 TAE Outstanding Trainee Awardees

In addition to the scientific achievements, this award focuses on recognizing outstanding educational achievements. The awardees Joseph Donovan and Florian Tagini will receive their awards during the TAE Day Session at ECCMID 2023, in Copenhagen (Denmark) on 16 April 2023.

Open call for ESCMID Subcommittee members

ESCMID is currently accepting applications for 3 positions in the Scientific Affairs Subcommittee, 2 positions in the Guidelines Subcommittee and 2 positions in the Parity Commission. ESCMID members who are qualified and interested are encouraged to review these positions and apply before the deadline. The application period is open until January 5th, 2023.

New call opening for the Mayo Clinic – ESCMID observership

A new call for the Mayo Clinic observership is opening from 9th to 30th January 2023. Mayo Clinic will accept one observer from Europe for a visit in Summer 2023 in Rochester, USA.

Check out the call for panel members for three ESCMID guidelines projects that will take place in 2023-2024. Apply by January 31, 2023.
