Description:
Two component signalling (TCS) is one of the central mechanisms used by bacteria to connect environmental sensing to genetic and physiological control. TCS is used in both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, are involved in sensing environmental changes, bacteria–bacteria challenges, quorum sensing and host–pathogen interactions. Understanding how bacteria respond to their environment is fundamental to our understanding of the microbiome and how it responds in diverse settings such as soil, gut, food and infection.
