Antimicrobial Therapy in immunocompromised and Critically Ill patients: management and Perspectives (ATCIP 2012)

10.05.2012 - 11.05.2012 All day

The incidence and diagnosis of viral, bacterial and fungal infections in the immunocompromised and critically ill patient has dramatically increased in the last few years. Fungal infections in the neutropenic and immunocompromised patients, as well as in those receiving immunosuppressive drugs, account for a large number of cases, but bacterial and viral infections are also increasingly frequent. In addition, resistance to antimicrobial drugs may jeopardize the success of
the therapeutic interventions. Treatment of infections in the immunocompromised and critically ill is still fraught with a number of open questions. This symposium
aims at highlighting these issues and providing a discussion forum for clinicians and microbiologists actively involved in the treatment of infections in ICU and immunocompromised patients.
