Last year’s successful event covered many topics. These ranged from disease-specific sessions on influenza, TB, HIV and other infectious diseases, to broad based presentations such as novel methodology to investigate disease outbreaks, and feasibility of disease eradication in 21st Century. Over 250 peer-reviewed abstracts were presented in over 20 oral and poster sessions.

The 2011 programme is currently being developed, and includes planned keynote sessions on the following topics:

• Enhancing health and health equality through vaccination programmes.
• The Hospital as an infectious disease amplifier
• Parasitic infections of increasing relevance for Europe
• Infectious disease control in complex emergency situations
