ESCMID guidelines on bacterial meningitis and Clostridium difficile are in public consultation

The guidelines Diagnosis and treatment of acute bacterial meningitis and Update of the diagnostic guidance document for Clostridium difficile infection are open for public consultation until 14 September 2015. Following the consultation period the guidelines will be submitted to CMI for peer review. ESCMID guidelines are available on the ESCMID guidelines website

Registration deadline for carbapenemase course in Verona is 4 September

The course entitled Carbapenemases in Enterobacteriaceae: Challenges and Preparedness takes place from 24-25 September in Verona, Italy. The course will debate how to effectively detect carbapenemases in routine testing and how to report their presence to clinicians. Guidelines for appropriate infection control and basic options for clinical treatment are also part of the course. Lectures will be followed by practical demonstrations of the main diagnostic techniques. It provides participants with the basic, integrated elements necessary for understanding the nature of carbapenemases, as well as the need for correct identification and reporting.
