ECCMID congress from 9 – 12 April 2016 moved to Amsterdam

As you have learned last week, the ESCMID Executive Committee has decided to move ECCMID 2016 from Istanbul to Amsterdam. Because of the current geo-political situation in Turkey and the region, it is in the interest of all stakeholders to relocate the congress, the executive committee concluded. Please consult the congress website to submit your abstract or to register for the event.

The European Antibiotics Awareness Day takes place 18 November

ESCMID supports various activities on the European Antibiotics Awareness Day on 18 November and during the World Antibiotics Awareness Week from 16 – 22 November. The European Committee on Infection Control (EUCIC) and ESCMID Study Group for Antibiotic Policies (ESGAP) will publish a newsletter to coincide with the EAAD. EUCIC, whose objective it is to objective is to create a new infection, control and prevention (IPC) network, is currently setting up national committees. ESGAP is currently conducting a European-wide survey on the “teaching on prudent antibiotic prescribing” among final-year medical students.

ESCMID’s new mentorship programme is well underway

Check out our mentorship programme. The aim is to give mentees (ESCMID members) the opportunity to benefit from mentoring (maximum 2 years) by one of our more than 20 approved ESCMID Mentorship Centres. At the beginning of November the mentorship programme had the following matches:

11th International Meeting on Microbial Epidemiological Markers (IMMEM XI)

Abstract submission deadline extended to 24 November 2015. Submit your abstract today to actively participate in the IMMEMX XI to be held 9 – 12 March 2016 in Estoril, Portugal. Reduced registration fees are available until 15 December 2015.
