The ESCMID Study Group for Infections in Compromised Hosts (ESGICH) helps push research and discussions around the topic of infections in immunocompromised hosts. Despite significant advances in science, medicine, and technique that have improved outcomes of immunocompromised patients – including those who received cellular therapeutics, solid organ transplantation and those with autoimmune conditions – the threat of opportunistic bacterial, fungal, and viral infections remains high. These infections are often difficult to diagnose and treat, with high rates of mortality and morbidity. The epidemiology of infections in these patients is constantly evolving, as are the optimal approached for prevention and treatment of these opportunistic infections. This is why our objective is to:
