Aims and objectives

With the aim of promoting standardisation and research in the field of forensic microbiology, the ESCMID Study Group of Forensic and Post-mortem Microbiology (ESGFOR) launched in October 2014 with the following main objectives:

  • Establishing European guidance for standardised microbiological sampling testing methods and results interpretation in forensic cases
  • Promoting cooperation between microbiologists, pathologists, and other specialists with shared points of interest

ESGFOR welcomes any person interested in ancient DNA, phylogenetics, organ and tissue transplants, biosafety and bioterrorism.
